Prologue (with apologies to Shakespeare). A poem by Gill Chedgey

Two households both alike in dignity,
In fair Corona, where we lay our scene,
From ancient grudge break to new mutiny,
Without soap and sanitiser make civil hands unclean.
From forth the facemasks of these two foes
A pair of essential joggers take their life
Into their hands as swiftly they do go.
And with their social distance do halt this virus strife.
The fearful passage of their morning time run
and the continuance of this lockdown rage
Which, with their ‘stay home, stay safe’, should stun.
With this the two month traffic of our age.
The which if you with patient aim attend,
To crush this contagion we strive to end.

  1. I love ‘Prologue’ Gill and I don’t think it’s easy to write a sonnet. It sums up the coronvirus in a few lines, well done.

    1. Thank you so much. I loved doing it! Helps diffuse the emotional soup!
